Tristan is "2"!!!

I know that I haven't posted in months! We have been keeping very busy this summer! The kids are all doing well. My oldest is now in COLLEGE! Wow! My daughter is in 10th grade, our middle son is entering 4th and the baby boy has just turned 2 this past weekend!! I can't believe it! I have been sewing like a madwoman! I am happy to say that my upcycle are doing well on facebook, so my sewing machine is humming happily! Lot of things to show, but for tonight, I will just share some pics of my baby boy in his birthday set.
The lap tee is from ottobre. I patchworked a tee that I just loved that was too small for the front with some fun knits. The back is also patched together and then I appliqued a 2 for my baby boy!
And I couldn't just make him a tee, so I made some shorts too. This was a self drafted pattern that I drew up for Tristan when he was 4 months old! I just added a bit to the rise and it was still good to go!
All of the fabrics in this set were from tshirts with the exception of the rib knit on the collar and the brighter green interlock fabric. Some of the same fabrics that I used in Tristan's 1 year set!
Thank you for letting me share my baby boy with you this past 2 years! I will try and post some more things in the next few days.

Long Time No Blog!

Well I did try to blog a few weeks back, spent a HUGE amount of time on what was to be a HUGE post and then I don't know... something happened, post was gone and I did not have the energy to retype. So here it goes again, much shorter this time! My baby boy turned 21 months old just a few days ago. Wow, doesn't seem possible. He is a super busy little guy, doesn't talk other than a few words and is curious about everything around him. So your typical almost 2 year old, well without the talking part. I am assured by friends that will come soon, and well as long as he is talking by preschool we are all good. So lots of sewing lately, lots of ideas still floating around in this head of mine! Not as much yarn dyeing going on as I would like there to be and not as much time to sew for my little one either. But all good things come to those who wait patiently, or some I am told. Never been too good on that patient part! So here are just a few things finished from the studio in the last month or so. We took 3 of the kids to Universal Studios theme park the other day for our middle child's 9th Birthday! Was lots of fun, but my youngest needed a tee! So what did I do, but whip out the scraps at 11 PM the night before we leave and get to work. Made a scrappy tee for him, 1 Fish 2 Fish, love how it turned out. I will be offering scrappy tees again on the 3rd of June in my zootzbaby store if you need one for your little one! fishyteeforme1 Made a few upcycled tees the other day, they can be found right now over at the Necessitae congo on hyena cart. We have a BIG rainbow themed stocking coming up on the first Monday of June, will be fun!! This month's theme was Purple, but I guess you can tell if you see my pics below! purple9 purple8 purple1 Made a custom fish tee for a little guy the other day. trout1 Auctioned off a newborn diaper a week or so ago made with Rainbow Noir fabric. It was so squishy and tiny! Couldn't resist sending the mama a matching lap tee for her little one! noirset1 And I dyed a few yarns. This one my 18 yr old named "Indian Cuisine". Love this one, I am saving it for Tristan for fall longies. Started them the other day and then realized that I was knitting cestari and should have checked my guage. Frogged them, but here is a pic of what it looked like! Oh and I changed trim color too! indiancuisine2 indiancuisine1 wipfrogged1 And a couple more, this one my about to be 16 yr old daughter named "oscar the grouch". Didn't make much sense to me, but I ran with it anyway! oscarthegrouch2 And this one was my Island Oasis that I was trying to recreate for a mama on ravelry. It came pretty close. islandoasis3 A butterfly custom tank for a little girl's 4th birthday party. dani1 A caterpillar newborn girls lap tee to match Dear Husband's new May colorway, "Sangria". This tee can be found right now over at Serendipity congo on hyena cart. caterpillar2 And my favorite set that I have made so far. This one is Tristan's size, but available right now at Serendipity. Not for much longer though, if it doesn't sell soon, it is going on my little guy's bum!! Knit with Dear Husband's Mojito colorway on blackberry ridge yarn. Just love it!!! moonlitowl1 moonlitowl2 moonlitowl3 And the last thing for tonight. This was a collab that I did with Liz of Lizard's Landing. Also at Serendipity. She does beautiful things with yarn! This was a shortie set knit with Under the Boardwalk for boys by Dear Husband. Liz did such a wonderful job! Love the owl on the cargo pocket. I made up a tee to match and well it sold! But coming up on the 3rd of June I will have 3 slots for owl custom tees available at ZooTZbaby on hyena cart. So cute!! zootzliz1 zootzliz2 Lots more to share, but I will save it for another night. Will try and post more!

Easter 2012! My Little Guy!

Well I procrastinated again! Don't know why I always do that.

Started some shorties using the kumfy kozies longies pattern late Friday night. Finished the last leg this morning. Cut out a tee to match Saturday night, finished it this morning. 2 hours to spare before company arrived! And I managed to have the house clean and cooking too, well thanks to my hubby and kids pitching in!

Here are a few pics of my little guy. I used Retro Baby's Kiari colorway on licorice twist. First time knitting with LT and I really liked it a bunch. Great for summer I think.

I asked my 8 yr old what should be on Tristan's tee and he said easter eggs. So I drew some easter eggs with a chocolate bunny peeking out from behind them.

Next year maybe I will plan ahead. I hope you all had a great Easter and spent time with your loved ones. We had about 18 family members here today and a nice time was had by all.

19 Months Tomorrow, Wow!!

My little guy is getting so big!! Well, not really big, but he will be 19 months old tomorrow. I can't believe he has been here that long.

Here are a couple of pics that I snapped this week. He is about 23 lbs now, and a little over 30", definitely the smallest baby we have ever had! But, oh he has come a long way from 5 lbs!!

He is in a pair of fleecy shorties from hyena cart and a matching upcycled tee by momma! The cool part, it was a tee that belonged to my 8 yr old and now my 19 month old is sporting it happily!!

I will have a lot of baby upcycles next sunday available on my hyena cart!

Love to Dye Yarn!! My Newest Addiction!!

So when I learn a new hobby somehow I end up going all in everytime! I couldn't be happy just learning to knit, I really wanted to make my own colorways! Now don't get me wrong, my yarn trunk is now overflowing! I love to BUY new yarn as much as I like to knit. But I thought it would be fun to learn how to do it.

My first time I started off with some yucky yarn that I bought at Joann's that was a lt yellow colorway. I didn't care for it much, so I thought I couldn't harm it! I threw it in the crockpot, added some koolaid on top of it and let it steam. This was what I ended up with. I did it a few times.
yarndye1

The middle one I decided to try and knit a cabled hat for my cousin. I think it turned out pretty cute!
cabledhat2

Then I decided to try Wiltons colors and threw them into the crockpot. A little more muted, didn't really get the colors I was going for.
yarndye2

Did Wiltons again but this time I decided to paint it on and then steam. I think it turned out a little better.

Knit up into these!

Then I ordered some marr haven yarns and tried to dye it using wilton dyes. Believe it or not these were all boy colors, but I kept getting pink girly colorways!!
marrhaven2

So I went back to a white yarn and wiltons in the crockpot and got this one which turned into these.

Getting close!
So I ordered some more yarn, this one was just a Plymouth Yarn, and I ordered acid dyes from Dharma Trading. Painted this one and then steamed it. I call this one All Boy!

And then yesterday I dyed some cestari fine yarn with acid dyes. I am calling this one Tropical Thunder. I like it and can't wait to see how it knits up!
